Monday Inspiration: Kimono Paintings by Stephanie Rew
As a lover of pattern and indeed the wonderful artful Japanese kimono (many of which are hand painted and one -off’s) I thought these paintings by Stephanie Rew of the UK would be some lovely Monday morning Inspiration…

Stepahnie Rew lives and works in Edinburgh, Scotland which is her place of birth and the city that she left and eventually came home to. I can’t believe the wonderful attention to detail, I mean look at these fabrics she is painting! The idea of trying to paint folded patterns gives me head ache. She is an amazing adept at working with light and texture and seems to enjoy painting the female physical form (don’t those feet look real?) which is the focus of her body of work. I would employ her to paint my printed fashion collections if I were a fashion designer…

I’m just loving how the patterns jump off the painting, you can almost touch the silk and feel it’s slightly cold hand.

You can buy some if Stephanie’s work here: Saatchi Online and find more of it and news online here:
Behance, website, blog and Facebook
Have a lovely week.
