Chair of the Month: Tea Chair by Sancal

I’ve got to be honest here: I am attracted to this chair, first and foremost because of it’s name and my addiction to tea… I actually looked at this piece of furniture and assessed it by imagining how I might feel whilst supping a good brew. I think it comes up trumps. Good mix of comfort, rigidity and style… But this time I think it’s OK for me to get carried away with my tea infatuation as the design was inspired by “the old, delicate china tea-set”!


















The Tea Chair by Sancal was designed by José Manuel Ferrero, it is a continuation from his Tea Armchair.  The back support is gently curved for an ergonomic posture to allow for long lasting sitting (now that’s what my imaginary tea parties would require) it is a slim cushion but has injected polyurethane for added comfort. The Tea Chair is a wooden structure covered with foam and fibre with a felted hexagonal quilted pattern, also available in lots of other fabric finishes like velvet.





The oak legs allow for a more well-rounded look for a chair that could look a little squat without them, they have PVC feet to be gentle on your hardwood floors… It is also possible to order a lumbar cushion with a cotton cover and filled with a FiberDream which has a downy feel but is actually a microfibre.





Imagine: Lapsang Souchong, a fruity buttered scone, good company and a loungy and comfy yet upright chair. Bliss.
