Handmade and Hot: Crewnecks by Alexander Campaz
This weeks Handmade and Hot features Alexander Campaz’s crewnecks. Check out his shop.
Who are you?
My name is Alexander Campaz. I was born in Colombia but emigrated to the States when I was seven.
Where are you?
I live in Brooklyn NY. To be exact I live in Bedstuy. A wonderful neighborhood with amazing architecture, and diversity.
Why do you hand make your products?
I have been a creative person since I can remember. I started working with my Father making clothes when I was a child and I guess that need to create things never quite left me.
How long did it take to make?
This particular sweatshirt takes maybe 45 minutes to make. The construction is all a serger stitch machine so its quite fast. What takes the most time is the rib for the neck and the waist.
What hopes/dreams do you have for your products? Where would you like to see them?
I was walking down the street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn a few days ago. From a distance I saw someone wearing one of my capes, (I have yet to put these up on etsy). And as I walked I noticed how it stood out against so many other outfits in the crowd. It made me happy to see that my clothes are out in the world, being part of peoples lives and wardrobes.
